Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 19, 2026
Reverie ("Reverie", "we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered journaling and reflection app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Because Reverie stores and analyzes personal, often sensitive diary content, we have written this policy in plain language.
1. The short version
- Your journal entries are private and are processed to provide you with reflections and insights.
- We use AI models (including third-party language models) to analyze and respond to your entries.
- We do not sell your personal data or your journal content.
- You can export or delete your data at any time from within the app.
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account data: email address, sign-in credentials, and basic profile information you choose to provide.
- Journal content: the text, audio, and any metadata you enter into Reverie, including the personal memories, thoughts, and feelings you record.
- Reflection preferences: settings such as tone, focus areas, and notification preferences.
2.2 Information we generate
- AI-generated reflections: summaries, prompts, patterns, and psychological or emotional insights produced by Reverie in response to your entries. These are derived from your content and are treated as part of your account data.
2.3 Information collected automatically
- Device type, operating system, app version, crash logs, and usage analytics used to operate and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
- To generate your personal reflections, prompts, and insights.
- To remember prior entries so Reverie can surface patterns over time.
- To operate, secure, and improve the service (including model quality and safety).
- To communicate with you about your account and (with consent) product updates.
4. AI processing and third-party model providers
To produce reflections and insights, your journal content is sent to AI language models. These models may be operated by Reverie or by third-party providers acting as our data processors. Where a third-party model is used, content is processed under contractual confidentiality and is not used to train publicly available models unless you have explicitly opted in.
AI is not perfect. Reflections and insights may be inaccurate, incomplete, or irrelevant. They are generated from patterns in language, not from clinical assessment. Do not rely on them as a diagnosis or as medical, psychological, or professional advice.
5. Important disclaimers about mental-health content
Reverie is a self-reflection and journaling tool. It is not a medical device, a mental-health service, or a substitute for professional care. Reverie does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition, and nothing in the app creates a therapist–client or doctor–patient relationship.
If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, contact a qualified professional or emergency services immediately:
- United States: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), available 24/7.
- United Kingdom: call Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7) or text Shout to 85258.
6. Data sharing
We share your information only as described here:
- Service providers: vetted processors (hosting, AI models, analytics, crash reporting) who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
- Legal: when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or others.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
We do not sell your journal content or personal data.
7. Security
We use technical and organizational measures (including encryption in transit and at rest) to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your rights and choices
- Access & export: you can view and export your entries and reflections at any time.
- Deletion: you can delete individual entries or your entire account from within the app. Deletion requests are processed as described in Section 9.
- Marketing: you can opt out of marketing communications at any time.
- Regional rights: depending on where you live (for example under UK GDPR / EU GDPR), you may have additional rights to rectification, restriction, portability, and objection. To exercise any right, email hi@reverieapp.ai.
9. Data retention
We retain your account and journal data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, subject to legal retention obligations and the time needed to remove content from backups.
10. Children
Reverie is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact hi@reverieapp.ai so we can remove it.
11. International data transfers
Reverie serves users in the United States and the United Kingdom, and may use service providers in other countries. Where we transfer personal data outside your region, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) consistent with applicable law.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, provide additional notice in the app.
